    Hi James,

This is actually a basic Spotfire trick called "Column names". If you have more then 1 aggregation in your Y.Axis you will need to add the "Column Names" field to one or more of the dimensional displays i.e. Color by, Line By etc.

    Best Regards,

    Eran

Re: how to plot several lines on the same chart

O I c. so there is no way to plot like six lines on the same chart on the same dimension. am I right? like x is 1:100, y1 is 10:110, y2 is 11:111, y3 is 15:115. I could not plot three lines of y1,y2,y3 vs x, respectively on the same chart....

Re: how to plot several lines on the same chart

    Hi James,

Lets do this step by step to clarify:

    1. load the next data set

    Date Category Y1 Y2 Y3
    01-Jan-10 A 101 222 333
    02-Jan-10 B 102 221 333.1
    03-Jan-10 C 103 220 333.2
    04-Jan-10 A 104 219 333.3
    05-Jan-10 B 105 218 333.4
    06-Jan-10 C 106 217 333.5
    07-Jan-10 A 107 216 333.6
    08-Jan-10 B 108 215 333.7
    09-Jan-10 C 109 214 333.8
    10-Jan-10 A 110 213 333.9
    11-Jan-10 B 111 212 334
    12-Jan-10 C 112 211 334.1
    13-Jan-10 A 113 210 334.2
    14-Jan-10 B 114 209 334.3
    15-Jan-10 C 115 208 334.4
    16-Jan-10 A 116 207 334.5
    17-Jan-10 B 117 206 334.6
    18-Jan-10 C 118 205 334.7
    19-Jan-10 A 119 204 334.8
    20-Jan-10 B 120 203 334.9
    21-Jan-10 C 121 202 335

    2. Create a line chart: X.Axis = Date, Y.Axis = Sum([y1])

    3. Now add to Y.Axis: Sum([y2]), sum([y3])  . to add aggregations drag the fields above the [y1] or select from the empty arrow above it.

Spotfire should display a hint: "With multiple columns on Y Axis ..."

    4. Now choose in the color : "Column Names"

This should show a 3 line graph with a different color for each aggregation (sum([Yx]))

You can also do this with "Line by" or even add "Column names" to X.Axis or Trellis by and see how it works there.

    Best regards,

    Eran

Re: how to plot several lines on the same chart

I've got a follow up question regarding a similar problem. I have 4 different sets of data taken at four different times, varying from hours to weeks. I'd like to connect each data set with a line as to see how the data changes over time and have them spread across evenly. Is this possible? Thanks in advance, Jack
