    S+ Database functionality

    Using MS Access I can take two lists of data List A and List B and Find a new list C that is all the records in List A and exclude those that are also found in list B.

    List A = {apple, banana, carrot, pear, pineapple, tomato}

    List B = {pear, pineapple}

    Therefore List C = {apple, banana, carrot, tomato}

     Can S+ do the same?

    Spotfire can do it using the Lists functionality.

    Yes, S+ can do the same:

    list.a <- c("apple", "banana", "carrot", "pear", "pineapple", "tomato")

    list.b <- c("pear", "pineapple")

    list.c <- setdiff(list.a,list.b)

     Similarly, the union command returns the unique values in both lists, and the intersect command returns only the values in common between two lists.
