Cascading property control

Hi,

I'm fairly new to Spotfire and and haven't completely figured out cascading two property controls. I can manage cascading two drop downs if both the property values are "Unique values in column" using Tip of the Week.

What I want to accomplish is to have 2 drop-down list. The first one would be used for "Column Selection". Depending on the column selected in the first drop-down menu, I need the second drop-down to be populated with the unique values in that column.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Binding Property Controls With Data Without Sorting it in Ascending Order

Hello

I am trying to bind a drop down list (property control) with a column having data in descending order (1000, 900 ... 100, 0). This order is set in the stored procedure itself and I want to maintain it.

But when I bind this column to the property control, the order is automatically changed to ascending order (0, 100, ... 900, 1000) and there is no way to control or prevent this re-order.

Working with fixed values is not helpful in this particular case because I have to bind another control conditionally in the same way but depending on what value is selected by user on the 1st control.

Can you please share your suggestions/ workarounds?

Top 5 ,Top 10,Top 15 in a drop down

Hi Everyone,

Hi have a requirement like top 5, top 10 and top 20 in a drop down.And i have 5 Columns like sales,income,liabilities ,Expenses and Cashflow for every states.I have 5 different bar graph for every states what was my expenses ,cashflow, sales ,cost and liabilities.

is there any possibilities like if i select top 5 in the drop down i should see only the 5 states which is having maximum expenses,sales , cost etc in different graph simultanously.

Setting Color By and Trellis Options Via Property Control

Can someone please help me create a property control for Color By and Trellis by? I have already created the property control drop down box. I just can't figure out how to set it to control the visualization so that it dictates the color by and trellis by functions. I have figured out how to set property controls for the x and y axis, but not for other visualization properties, such as color by and trellis by.

Unique Value in Column Property

I am trying to use unique value in property(dropdown) to filter data from my existing data table but everytym i write the custom expressions, it say expression not valid.

Expression: case when [Year]= '${property}'

then [Year]

else null end

Is i am missing something here??

How will i know in which place which column we have to use. Can u please correct the query

Using multiple select control within custom expression

Hi! Can you please help with writing the right custom expression? I have column [Year] (2009-2012), column [Month] (1-12), column [Measure] (Sale,Volume,Value, etc) and column [Brand]. Treemap visualization should be sized by [Measure] (selected by user over Multiple control property) for selected time period, where user can also choose [Year] from single property control and [Month] from multiple Control property I tried smth like avg(if ([Year]="") and ([Month]=$map("$esc(${Month})",","), $Measure,null), but it doesn't work( Thank you!

Wildcards in Property Control

I've created a input field property control that is used to pull on-demand data through an information link. Are you able to enter a wildcard character to query the database and if so, what is the format? I've tried several options, but nothing seems to work.

I'm trying to do something similar here, but I can't quite figure it out. I've got a date hierarchy on the X axis of multiple graphs on a page, I'd like to set a slider in a text area to control each of these hierarchies simultaneously.

I have a column called "Date" and a hierarchy column called "Date Hierarchy"

I can just put "Date Hierarchy" on the axis of each graph, but they obviously won't move in unison. So here's what I tried:

I created a document property (slider) called "HierarchyHelper" -- a real number with values 0-5, intervals of 1.
I set the X axis on the graphs to a custom expression: <PruneHierarchy([Hierarchy.Date Hierarchy],${HierarchyHelper})>

I would expect the expression to pull the number from the slider and prune the hierarchy accordingly, but it's not working. Instead I'm just getting the dreaded "expression not valid" -- what am I missing?
